Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) of Medical Center Hospital shall approve or disapprove biomedical research, investigational studies and clinical trials involving human subjects; conduct periodic reviews of such research, studies and trials; and provide the policy for the protection of the rights and welfare of such human subjects. Concern for the interests of the subjects must prevail over the interests of science and society.

“Investigators should not have the sole responsibility for determining whether research involving human subjects fulfills ethical standards. Others who are independent of the research must share in the responsibility”
