Imagine sitting on a folding chair, watching your four-year-old do somersaults, jumps, and cartwheels, when suddenly, he comes running over to you complaining his back hurts. You do not think much of it because he just tweaked it – until he turns blue and passes out cold on the ground.

What would you do?

For this mom, I felt assured once they called 911 for the paramedics to come check him out and take him to Medical Center Hospital for a follow up screening since he was struggling to catch his breath. Again, this mom, who did not have any form of ID because we were running down the road to gymnastics. This mom, who did not have a spare charger because 20 percent battery would be sufficient for the one hour of practice.

Medical Center Hospital was there to put my child at ease during his x-rays. The nurses graciously provided a phone charger so that I could update family and find a ride once we were discharged. The physician provided reassurance that coming to the hospital was not an overreaction; that being safe rather than sorry is always better than the nagging fear of “what if.”

The Medical Center Health System Foundation exists to support community health in the Permian Basin. One hundred percent of funds raised stay local to support the efforts of Medical Center Hospital and help to continue providing quality care to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. The funds not only help purchase life-saving equipment, but also things like phone chargers for unexpected visits and stuffed animals for a scared child.

When you donate to the Medical Center Health System Foundation, you are securing quality healthcare for your family, your friends, and even yourself. Medical Center Health System is my family’s One Source for Health.
